Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
Huntt is a real-world game, so it needs your location while you play. This policy explains what we collect, who can see it, how long we keep it and how to delete it. The short version: your exact position only goes to our game server during a match, other players see far less than that, we never sell your data and we run no ads or third-party trackers.
Who we are
Huntt is made by Outerworlds ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@playhuntt.online.
What we collect
Account details
- The ID that Sign in with Apple or Google gives us, and your email address if you share it or sign up with email. Email passwords are stored only as a salted hash.
- Your codename, your look (suits, catch marker, trail) and your settings.
- Your date of birth. We use it to check you are 15 or over and to switch on teen protections for players under 18. It is never shown to other players.
- Guest accounts hold the same game data without an email or sign-in.
Location
- Outside a match: an approximate location, rounded to about 100 m, so we can show hunts near you. It is never shown to anyone.
- During a match: your precise GPS position, about once a second, sent to our game server. The server uses it to run the game: the zone, pings, catches, crates and the out-of-zone timer. On iOS and Android the app keeps sending it while the screen is off, but only until the match ends.
- After a match: a smoothed copy of your route, used for the hunt recap and your match history.
Bluetooth and motion
- During a match your phone sends and listens for a short-range Bluetooth signal so a catch only counts when players are really close. The signal carries a temporary match code that changes every minute, not your name or account.
- Motion data helps tell walking from running so your position stays steady. It stays on your phone.
Voice
- Push-to-talk voice in lobbies and in your team channel is streamed live through our voice servers to the other players in that channel. It is never recorded or stored.
Camera
- Only to scan Huntt QR codes. Images are read on your phone and never saved or uploaded.
Gameplay and social
- Matches you play or host, your team, catches, crates, powers, scores, XP, ranks, awards, feats, predictions and the events of each match, including where catches happened.
- Friends, friend requests, crews, turfs and saved hunt presets, and who you have blocked.
Ratings and reports
- Fair-play ratings that co-players give you after a match, whether you finish or quit matches, automatic location checks that look for GPS spoofing, and reports made about you. Together these set your fair-play badge.
- Reports you make, with the reason and any note you add.
Notifications and device
- Your push notification token and phone platform, so we can send the notifications you have switched on.
- Basic technical data our servers see with every request, such as IP address, app version and time, kept in short-lived logs.
We do not use advertising, ad identifiers or third-party analytics, and we never sell or rent your data.
How we use it
- To run hunts: matchmaking, the live game, catches, results, ranks and recaps.
- To keep play fair and safe: spotting cheating, reviewing reports, enforcing these rules and age protections.
- To show hunts near you and send notifications you have chosen.
- To keep the service working and secure, and to fix bugs.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We rely on what you ask us to do (providing the game you signed up for), our legitimate interest in keeping the game fair and safe, your consent for location, Bluetooth, microphone, camera and notifications (you can change these in your phone settings at any time), and legal obligations where they apply.
What other players see
- Everyone in a hunt with you sees your codename, look, team, level, rank and fair-play badge.
- Scouts never see your exact spot. At each ping they see an area about 130 m wide, and only within 15 m of you, or during a short-lived power, do they see more.
- Your teammates see your live position on the map. Players who are out of the match (spectators) also see everyone live and read the chat and callouts of both teams, but cannot talk or type in the match.
- Every catch is shown to all players in that match, with where it happened.
- Your Player card (stats, feats, crew) goes to everyone or friends only, your choice. Activity and favourite turf are for friends, or nobody.
- In hunt recaps, after the match ends, your real route goes to the players, friends or nobody, your choice. In public hunts and for players under 18 it only ever goes to friends. Blocked players never see it.
- Players you block cannot see you, invite you or join your hunts.
You can change all of these in Settings > Privacy & safety.
Who we share it with
We share data only with providers that help us run Huntt, under contracts that limit them to doing that:
- Amazon Web Services: our servers, database, map storage and email, in the United States (Ohio) and India (Mumbai). Matches run on the game server nearest the zone.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, and push notification delivery (APNs and Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Map text fonts load from Protomaps on GitHub Pages, which sees your IP address like any web request. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors.
We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect someone from serious harm, or as part of a sale or merger of Huntt, in which case this policy keeps applying to your data.
How long we keep it
- Raw GPS samples from a match: 30 days, for cheat review, then deleted.
- Smoothed routes and match records: while your account exists, so your history and recaps work.
- Automatic cheat checks: 90 days. Ratings count towards your badge for 365 days and reports for 90 days.
- Alerts in your inbox: 60 days. Sign-in sessions: until they expire or you sign out. Password reset codes: 15 minutes.
- Account details: until you delete your account.
Deleting your account
Go to Settings > Account > Delete account and type your codename to confirm. We erase straight away your sign-in details, email, codename, date of birth, settings, push token, home area, friends, blocks, crew membership, alerts, feats, turfs, presets and every route and GPS sample. Matches you played keep an anonymous row so other players' results still add up. Reports you made about others may be kept while they are needed to keep players safe.
A guest account is lost if you sign out without saving it. You can also ask us to delete your data by writing to support@playhuntt.online.
Players aged 15 to 17
Huntt is for players 15 and over. We check your date of birth when you sign up and do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we learn a player is under 15, we delete the account.
Players under 18 get teen protections that stay on until they turn 18:
- Their Player card is friends-only and they cannot be found by searching their codename.
- Friend requests need a mutual friend or a QR scan in person.
- They only join hunts for their age group, public hunts with strangers run in daylight only, and they cannot host public hunts.
- Their recap routes only ever go to friends.
In some countries you need a parent or guardian to agree before you can use an app like Huntt at your age. If that applies to you, ask them first. Parents and guardians can contact us at support@playhuntt.online.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a copy to take elsewhere, or object to or limit how we use it. You can withdraw consent at any time, for example by turning off location or notifications. Write to support@playhuntt.online and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Everything between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Sign-in tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage (Keychain or Keystore), passwords are hashed, and only the people who run Huntt can reach the database. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.
Data across borders
Our servers are in the United States and India, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where the law requires it, we use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes
We will update this policy when Huntt changes. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
